Job summary

The Rural Transportation Program within SWHRA provides curb-to-curb transportation across eight counties. A Transportation Driver safely transports individuals, adheres to traffic laws, maintains vehicles, and supports passengers including wheelchair users.

The role reports to the Transportation Director and collaborates with a team to ensure timely, courteous service. Ideal candidates are at least 21, with a valid Class D license (F endorsement), ability to pass DOT and background checks, and

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must possess a valid Class D Driver's License with an F endorsement.
• Must pass a DOT physical.
• Must pass aMotor Vehicle Records (MVR) check, a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug test.
• Must be clear of National Offender Registries (Sex Offender Registry and Elderly/Disabled Abuse Registry).
• Drivers must be reachable by phone and able to report to work on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers within the service area to designated locations.
• Assist ambulatory and wheelchair users into and out of the vehicle per safety protocols.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required reports and logs in coordination with office personnel.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, supervisors and other drivers to ensure smooth operations.
