Job summary

GCI is seeking a Rural Support Agent to maintain satellite and wireless assets across rural Alaska. You will support network operations by servicing remote sites, aiding installers and engineers, and ensuring reliable communications.

Responsibilities include site inspections, basic maintenance, snow removal, generator fueling during outages, and on-call technical support. Travel to communities is required to perform install and maintenance tasks in harsh Arctic environments.

Qualifications

  • Six months experience living in an arctic environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Electrical, construction or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Maintenance of satellite telecommunications experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance inspections: Monthly station checks to ensure site security, no damage, and visual inspection of equipment.
  • General housekeeping/upkeep of site: brush clearing, trash removal, sweeping/cleaning of facility.
  • Aid traveling employees and contractors for site access and general labor.
  • Snow removal from satellite dishes.
  • Generator fueling during power outages.
  • Report outages, theft, or damage immediately.
  • On-call/remote technical support and basic equipment swaps as directed.
  • Install Wireless Customer Premise Equipment at customer locations.
  • Adhere to E911 service reliability and outage notification rules.
