Job summary

GCI Communication Corp. is seeking an entry-level Field Service Technician I to install, service, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment in residential and business settings across Alaska. You will work under supervision, learning through company certifications and training programs.

The role emphasizes safety, on-site customer communication, and collaboration with senior staff to deliver quality service. A driving role with potential travel and shift flexibility is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of six months in a technical role or related background.
• Ability to drive and meet DOT/defensive driving requirements.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
• May require certifications within defined period after hire.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment from the tap to the customer home or office.
• Operate test equipment to measure signal quality and ensure proper cabling.
• Support senior staff and mentor junior technicians with installs and repairs.
• Perform preventative/corrective maintenance and locate issues.
• Communicate with customers on-site and promote additional services.
