Job summary

Utah State University invites applications for a dedicated Mentor at the Blanding campus. You will build meaningful relationships with students, support them in navigating college life, and connect them with campus and community resources, while traveling to Monticello, Montezuma Creek, Monument Valley and surrounding areas.

You will mentor students at risk, help set academic, personal and career goals, and coordinate with advisors, tutors, and financial aid offices.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or two years experience in a related field or an equivalent combination.
• Experience mentoring, advising, education, social-service, or related work with students, young adults, families, or communities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships with students and partners.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Willingness to travel regularly to outreach locations (e.g., Montezuma Creek, Monument Valley).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for outreach.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with students.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring to USU Blanding students.
• Support at-risk students and connect them with resources.
• Help students set academic, personal, and career goals and strategies.
• Assist navigating university resources, policies, and processes.
• Connect students with advising, tutoring, financial aid, mental health, career services.
• Monitor engagement and proactively reach out when support is needed.
• Travel between USU Blanding and outreach communities.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Engage with schools, tribal/community partners, families, and community events.
