Job summary

The PATHS program at Utah is seeking mentors for a work-study, part-time role to support high school students in achieving college readiness. Mentors provide coaching, share study strategies, and help students prepare for college applications and scholarships.

Responsibilities include weekly check-ins, planning monthly Saturday activities, updating resource guides, and presenting on college readiness topics. Campus location: Salt Lake City.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required.
• The incumbent will be required to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( BCI ) Background check
• Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with student cohorts weekly and keep up-to-date about student progress.
• Work with fellow mentors to plan and supervise monthly Saturday engagement events (September - May)
• Update student resource guides and occasionally give short presentations on various topics related to college readiness, life skills, self-management, scholarships, and more.
• Meet virtually with students to track student progress and data.
• Attend mandatory weekly team meetings.
• Conduct themselves professionally and be positive role models to students.
