Job Title: Rural Health Clinic Coder

Location: Remote (Must live in Iowa or surrounding states: IA, WI, MN, IL, MO, NE, SD)

Pay: Pay Rate: $20–$27/hour (depending on experience)

Job Description:

This role focuses on Rural Health Clinic (RHC) coding and supports a multi-provider clinic operations remotely. The ideal candidate must have verifiable experience in Rural Health coding and a clear understanding of the distinctions between traditional and RHC billing practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately code and review RHC patient encounters (270–300 patients/day shared across team)
  • Handle high volumes of E/M, CPT, and clinical visits across diverse specialties
  • Meet productivity benchmarks of 75–100 charts/day by 90 days
  • Participate in EPIC and 3M-based workflows
  • Collaborate via Microsoft Teams with coders and leadership
  • Attend initial training and shadowing with senior coders
  • Ensure compliance with RHC guidelines (e.g., CG modifier usage, qualifying visit logic)
Qualifications:
  • Must live in Iowa or neighboring states
  • Must have direct experience with Rural Health Clinic coding
  • Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, RHIT, or equivalent)
  • EPIC and 3M system experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of RHC billing rules including:
    • Medicare Qualifying Visits
    • Use of CG modifiers
    • Single encounter billing logic for minor surgical procedures
    • Transition and Chronic Care Management (TCM/CCM)
  • Must be able to handle a complex case mix (e.g., geriatrics, walk-ins, ortho injections, IUDs, vasectomies)
Additional Details:
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Schedule: Mon–Fri, flexible between 6 AM–7 PM CST (40 hours/week)
  • Onboarding Timeframe: Must start within 30 days
  • Systems: EPIC, 3M, Microsoft Teams
  • Compliance: Background check required; flu and TB checks TBD
  • Contract Type: Contract with possibility for Contract-to-Hire
