Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to support Ruggedized Fiber Optics manufacturing in Fairview/Arden, NC. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes with an emphasis on evening production support and cross-shift collaboration.

You will analyze data, drive quality improvements, and assist in capital projects while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across shifts. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably with fiber optic or electronic components
  • Experience supporting production operations and resolving process issues during non-standard hours
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for fiber optic assemblies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to work independently
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple shifts and provide coverage during production transitions

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts specifically for RFO product lines during operations
  • Provide real-time engineering support to manufacturing operations and resolve production issues for ruggedized fiber optic products
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost during evening production hours
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Production teams across shifts to resolve RFO process and product issues
  • Support new RFO product introductions, including process development, tooling, and documentation during manufacturing
  • Analyze manufacturing data from operations to identify trends and recommend corrective actions for fiber optic product quality
  • Ensure RFO manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during evening operations
  • Support capital equipment projects for fiber optic manufacturing, including justification, selection, and implementation
  • Coordinate with 2nd and 4th shift teams to ensure seamless production continuity for RFO products
  • Provide technical support for ruggedized fiber optic assembly, testing, and packaging operations
