Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory therapy across age groups. The role involves independent practice, supervising staff, and contributing to department leadership to improve patient care and outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have an RRT/RCP credential, an Associate Degree, and ACLS/BCLS completion within 30 days of starting.

Qualifications

  • Must be an RRT/RCP and have an associate degree.
  • ACLS and BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Leadership/oversight experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and conditions.
  • Oversee other staff and assist department management.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvements.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families and staff.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning and safe to operate.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs all modes of respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and medical conditions. Therapy is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by HCA Houston Medical Center. The Respiratory Care Practitioner works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and technology and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient. The Lead RRT may oversee other staff and assist the department management as directed. Also, identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services on an on-going basis.

  • Communicate verbally via telephone
  • Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
  • Communicate in written form
  • Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
  • Trouble-shoot medical equipment
  • Solve problems requiring interpretation
  • Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Make judgments to take action which could result in death of patient
  • Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction or possible hearing loss
  • Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
  • Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
  • Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
What qualifications you will need
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
  • Associate Degree
