Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care across all age groups in a hospital setting. You will evaluate outcomes, adjust plans, and collaborate with physicians and the health care team to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires appropriate ACLS/BCLS/PALS certifications within specified timeframes and state-credentialed therapist certification (RRT/RCP or NBRC credentials).

Qualifications

  • ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Certification as Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner or NBRC credentials required as listed

Responsibilities

  • Provides respiratory care therapies to all age groups in all hospital areas.
  • Applies modalities and evaluates outcomes, adjusting care plan as needed.
  • Identifies problems, plans tasks, and communicates changes to staff/physician.
  • Ensures delivery of cardiopulmonary care per policy.
  • Maintains productivity and efficient staffing through workload management.
  • Provides shift reports to team and participates in case management.
  • Assists with admission referrals and care level decisions.
  • Contributes to cost containment through prudent use of supplies and charges.
  • Coordinates patient care and discharge planning with healthcare team.
  • Maintains professional relationships and supports department objectives.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Provides respiratory care therapies and procedures to all age groups of patients in all areas of the hospital.

What you will do in this role:
  • Applies respiratory care modalities and procedures to a group of patients. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.
  • Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and initiates activities to facilitate appropriate responses.
  • Communicates the patient’s condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of cardiopulmonary/patient care for a group of patients according to policy and procedure.
  • Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties.
  • Provides pertinent shift report to other members of the team.
  • Participates and facilitates in the case management process and cost containment for patients.
  • Makes appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
  • Considers all available options and makes appropriate decisions.
  • Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.
  • Assists in the evaluation of patients for appropriate level of care and communicates with others on health care team.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.
  • Evaluates patient progress in light of the plan of care and coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve Department objectives and maintain good employee relations and collaborative integration of the health care team.
  • Maintains harmonious relationship with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.
  • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.
  • Seeks and accepts input from Directors/ Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department’s harmony and serviceability.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
  • (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
