Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. seeks an RFIC Design Engineer Intern to contribute to cellular and Wi‑Fi RF blocks across 700 MHz to 7 GHz. You will work on architecture, layout, and RF simulations, collaborating with applications engineers in the lab.

The role provides mentoring, hands‑on project experience, and exposure to upper management, with final presentations to leaders at Skyworks.

Qualifications

• Pursuing B.S. (senior) or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong RF/microwave circuit design background and electromagnetics knowledge.
• Experience with ADS, Cadence, HFSS or similar RF design tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver RF solutions for cellular and Wi‑Fi applications from 700 MHz to 7 GHz.
• Architect, design, simulate, and layout RF blocks (PA, LNA, RF switch).
• Perform active/passive circuit design and RF simulations.
• Learn and follow the IC design flow and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate with applications engineers in the lab to characterize RF circuits.

Skyworks' RFIC Design Engineer Internships

are offered in our Advanced Cellular business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver new and innovative solutions for cellular and Wi-Fi applications in frequency range from 700 MHz to 7 GHz.
• Be responsible for the architectural and feasibility study, design, simulation, and layout of various RF circuit blocks such as power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA) and RF switch based on GaAs and SOI based technologies.
• Work activities will include active/passive circuit design and linear/nonlinear RF simulations using various tools such as ADS, Cadence and HFSS.
• Learn the Qorvo IC design flow from schematic level to fully assembled circuit
• Present results, participate in design reviews, and work in the lab alongside applications engineers for characterizing/optimizing RF circuits.

Required Experience And Skills

• Pursuing B.S. (senior only), M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong background in RF/microwave circuit design, analog circuits, and electromagnetics.
• Experience with analog, RF and electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools such as ADS, Cadence, and HFSS.
• Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.

Desired Experience And Skills

• Experience designing various RFIC/MMIC circuit blocks such as PAs, LNAs, switches, couplers, filters, and attenuators using GaAs, SiGe and/or SOI/CMOS based technologies either in a class project or as part of M.S./Ph.D. research work.
• PCB, filter and/or other passives (inductor, transformer, antenna, etc.) design experience.
• Familiar with RF/microwave test equipment such as signal generator, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.
• Data analysis and programming skills such as MATLAB, Python, JMP, Spotfire, and ADS AEL.
• Published authorship in technical journals, conferences and/or magazines is a plus.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
