Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Electronics Engineering Intern to work on RF/analog/Mixed-signal IC design in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You'll design, simulate and analyze RF blocks, implement layouts with Cadence Virtuoso, and work with Python/MATLAB for analysis and scripting. The internship offers exposure to upper management, mentoring, learning opportunities, and potential full-time opportunities based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in MS or PhD Electrical Engineering with GPA ≥ 3.0.
• RF/Analog circuit design coursework and/or experience.
• Familiar with RF simulation tools such as Cadence Spectre/SpectreRF, ADS, FEM, Momentum and Cadence Dynamic Link.
• Proficient in circuit layout using Cadence Virtuoso; ability to guide layout designer for analog layouts.
• Some experience with Python or MATLAB; strong verbal and written communication; excellent problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Specify, design, analyze and simulate RF and analog/mixed-signal ICs.
• Implement RF blocks such as Power Amplifiers, LNAs, RF Switches, Phase Shifters, Attenuators in silicon.
• Calculate and simulate effects of parasitics using EM and extraction tools.
• Meet performance requirements while considering size, cost, footprint and schedule.
• Support hardware assembly, test and debugging in a lab setting.
• Summarize and document work in reviews; support peer design reviews.

Skyworks' RFIC Design Engineering Internships are offered in our High Performance Analog, Advanced Cellular, and Connectivity and Sensors business groups. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities

• Specify, design, analyze and simulate RF and analog/mixed-signal electronic integrated circuits.
• Implement RF blocks such as Power Amplifiers, LNAs, RF Switches, Phase Shifters, and Attenuators in silicon technologies.
• Calculate and simulate the effects of various parasitics using tools for Electro-Magnetic simulation and other semiconductor extraction tools.
• Meet performance requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, and schedule.
• Support hardware assembly, test and debugging in a laboratory setting.
• Summarize and document work in written and verbal reviews, support peer design reviews.

Required Experience and Skills

• Current enrollment in MS or PhD Electrical Engineering required with minimum GPA 3.0.
• RF/Analog circuit design coursework and/or experience
• Knowledge of RF simulation tools such as Cadence Spectre/SpectreRF, ADS, FEM, Momentum and Cadence Dynamic Link
• Proficient in circuit layout using Cadence Virtuoso or ability to guide layout designer to generate layouts using proper analog layout techniques.
• Some experience using programming language tools such as Python, MATLAB or other software language tools is preferred.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
