Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Sleep Technician to perform basic and advanced sleep studies in a full-time night shift, 6:00pm–6:00am, Wednesday to Friday at UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton County.

You will prepare patients and equipment, interview to determine sleep disorders, score and report results, and ensure equipment maintenance. Credentials include BLS within 30 days and RPSGT/BRPT or ABSM; a high school diploma with related experience or higher degrees are acceptable.

Qualifications

  • BLS within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or transfer date.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with BRPT OR Registered Sleep Technologist with ABSM.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.
  • Prepare patient and equipment for testing; interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and explain procedures.
  • Score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
  • Prepare, calibrate and maintain equipment; report needed repairs/replacements.

Job Description

Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.

  • Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient‑specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
  • Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.
Qualifications
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required.
Education
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
