Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA (and other sites) seeks an RPO Software Developer/Analyst (Senior Member of Technical Staff) to architect and build multidisciplinary RPO analysis capabilities for defense, civil, and commercial customers.

You will implement flight dynamics tools, design software architectures, and collaborate with engineers to translate mission requirements into technical solutions, with occasional travel and a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• MS degree in computer science, software engineering, Aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year of industry experience.
• Proficiency in C++ including software architecture, performance optimization, and algorithm development.
• Proficiency in Python including API design, module integration, and user interface development.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub, or similar collaboration tools.
• Experience in space mission analysis and design, astrodynamics, trajectory simulation and optimization of spacecraft conducting RPO.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to travel domestically to customer and contractor facilities (~10%).
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Transcripts required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new flight dynamics tools for a modern internal tool base.
• Conduct software architecture design and assist with integration of new workflows.
• Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements.
• Combine AI/ML/RL techniques with flight mechanics modeling for complex analysis.
• Develop CONOPS, explore TTPs, and incorporate operational constraints into design for RPO objectives.
• Support evaluation of contested space mission applications and system vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate mission requirements into solutions.
• Occasional travel to support customer efforts.
