Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Right-of-Way (ROW) Permitting Specialist to join the Land Development team. You will review ROW Use permits, conduct field inspections, and collaborate with engineers, planners, and inspectors to ensure projects meet County standards and support safe growth.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of inspection experience, valid FL license, and preference for an Engineering degree or FE exam.

Qualifications

• In this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of inspection experience or college-level training substituted year-for-year.
• Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: FE exam passed or obtainable within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review ROW Use permit applications for compliance with the Unified Development Code.
• Conduct field inspections on private, public, and County-owned properties.
• Assist with subdivision, site, and development plan reviews as part of permitting.
• Support safe, compliant land development projects and coordinate with staff.
• Provide backup support for Land Development Inspectors during field work.
• Help maintain high standards for development and protect County infrastructure.
