EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Combination of education, experience, and training acceptable.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary / Objective – Performs functions related to the preparation and serving of food in a school environment, and maintains clean and sanitary equipment and facilities.

Essential Functions

• May be called to work at various sites daily; start and end times may vary by site.
• Prepares meals following standardized recipes, adjusting ingredient quantities accurately.
• Portions food correctly to meet Federal, State, and Departmental guidelines.
• Serves customers, maintains an orderly food service line, and operates various equipment used in food preparation or cleaning.
• Washes serving trays, utensils, dishes, pans, etc., and cleans/sanitizes kitchen work area and equipment.
• Assists in stocking storage areas with food/non‑food supplies following FIFO; assists in taking inventory.
• Accurately records beginning and ending food quantities on production worksheets.
• Ensures all safety and sanitation procedures are followed by self and staff.
• Attends training programs and workshops as needed.

Work Environment & Safety

High exposure to heat burns; medium exposure to cuts, bruises, and chemical burns; low exposure to other injuries. Must maintain cleanliness to prevent injuries/disease to others. May have exposure to fumes, odors, electrical hazards, and chemicals. Physical demands include lifting, standing, and operating kitchen equipment.
