POSITION TITLE
3211 ROUTING SPECIALIST
Performs intermediate skilled clerical work assisting in the planning and scheduling routes, and transportation services; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Transportation Supervisor.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Thorough knowledge of transit and school transportation principles, practices and procedures; general knowledge of office practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the geography of the City and the location of streets and roads; thorough knowledge of the attendance boundaries within the school district; ability to respond appropriately and effectively to problems, concerns and questions from citizens, parents, teachers and students; ability to operate a personal computer and applicable computer applications; ability to express ideas clearly and accurately orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, school officials, associates and general public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some transportation experience.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
