Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Transportation, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 year minimum experience in transportation, logistics, routing, distribution
  • 2 years progressive experience in management or people leadership
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong transportation planning and route optimization knowledge
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic understanding of Transportation Routing software
  • Demonstrated success improving operational performance through metrics and accountability
  • Ability to effectively communicate difficult decisions while maintaining positive working relationships

Job Description

Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill ourRouting & Intercompany Distribution Manager position.This role leads the development and operation of Norco’s centralized transportation planning and dispatch function, including last-mile routing and intercompany distribution. The position establishes transportation strategies, standards, and performance measures; exercises independent judgment in balancing service, cost, safety, and operational priorities; and leads cross-functional improvements that enhance asset utilization, delivery productivity, inventory flow, and scalability. This role works closely with Executive Leadership, Regional Vice Presidents, department leadership, branch leadership, and functional leaders to align transportation strategy with company priorities and achieve better logistical outcomes across the organization.Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Transportation Network Leadership

    • Lead the development and execution of a centralized transportation planning strategy

    • Exercise independent judgement, backed by analytics to establish routing standards, planning methodologies, and transportation operating procedures

    • Develop transportation policies that improve consistency and accountability across the organization

    • Ensure transportation decisions balance customer service, cost, safety, and operational efficiency

    • Regional travel as required



  • Last-Mile Route Optimization

    • Manage centralized route planning for local delivery operations

    • Optimize daily routing through technology, analytics, and continuous improvement methodologies

    • Improve vehicle utilization, delivery density, stop efficiency, and route productivity

    • Monitor route performance and implement corrective actions when service or efficiency targets are not achieved

    • Analyze opportunities to reduce miles driven, overtime, fuel consumption, and operating costs



  • Intercompany Distribution Management

    • Oversee transportation planning between production facilities, distribution centers, and branch locations

    • Create efficient distribution schedules that support inventory availability and service requirements

    • Coordinate transportation resources to minimize emergency transfers and expedite shipments

    • Develop network strategies that improve inventory flow and distribution efficiency



  • Performance Management

    • Establish and monitor KPIs

    • Develop reporting tools and dashboards that provide visibility into transportation performance

    • Present performance results and improvement initiatives to executive leadership



  • Change Management & Culture Leadership

    • Lead organizational transition from decentralized dispatching to centralized transportation planning

    • Build strong relationships with branch leaders, dispatch personnel, and drivers

    • Actively listen to concerns and feedback while helping stakeholders understand business objectives

    • Clearly communicate the rationale behind routing decisions and operational changes

    • Create an environment where employees feel heard, respected, and included during operational transformation along with continuous improvement activities

    • Work closely with Executive Leadership, Regional Vice Presidents, branch leadership, dispatch teams, and other key stakeholders to align transportation priorities, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and achieve improved logistical outcomes



  • Team Leadership

    • Support the recruiting, training, coaching, and development of transportation planning personnel

    • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards

    • Foster a culture of customer service, collaboration, problem solving, and data-driven decision making

    • Support succession planning and organizational growth



  • Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, company policies, and safety standards

    • Partner with Safety, Operations, and Fleet teams to identify and mitigate transportation risks

    • Promote safe transportation practices throughout the organization



  • Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Transportation, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience in transportation, logistics, routing, distribution, or operations management.

  • 5 year minimum experience in transportation, logistics, routing, distribution,

  • 2 years progressive experience in management or people leadership

  • Valid driver's license

  • Strong transportation planning and route optimization knowledge

  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Basic understanding of Transportation Routing software
