Job summary

The City of Laredo seeks a solid waste collector to safely manage assigned routes and service residents. You will operate an automated garbage truck, perform pre-/post-trip checks, and log work orders while upholding safety and courtesy.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, at least two years of truck driving experience, and a valid Texas CDL-B (A preferred). Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus for community service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of truck driving experience.
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) B is required; A preferred.
• Background check and drug/alcohol testing required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and memorize routes serving 1,200–1,300 residents and operate automated truck safely.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic truck cleaning.
• Complete WebQa/311 work orders and log records; report hazards.
• Assist in training new employees and maintain professional image.
• Respond to resident questions politely and attend safety meetings.
