Responsibilities

• Develops sales strategy including cold calling, door-to-door selling, and product demonstrations.
• Drives along a designated route to sell products and call on regular customers.
• Informs existing customers of upgrades and new product lines.
• Analyzes consumer behavior and collaborates with sales to stay competitive.
• Takes purchase orders, negotiates contracts, and collects payments.
• Maintains sales records and reports progress to management.
• Liaises with other departments to ensure excellent customer service and resolve complaints.
• Keeps promotional materials in mint condition and maintains vehicle cleanliness.
• Performs basic vehicle maintenance and loading of deliveries.
• Supports loading and unloading as needed and maintains a safe record.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:The Route Salesman sells products and provide services to customers located on designated routes. Develops sales strategies in-order to meet sales targets, follow up on sales leads, and build long-lasting relationships with their customers to retain their business and promote new product offerings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.1. Develops a sales strategy, including cold calling, door-to-door selling, and product demonstrations.2. Drives along a designated route to sell products and calling on regular customers.3. Informs existing customers of upgrades to products, as well as introducing new product lines.4. Analyzes consumer behavior and collaborates with the sales department to remain competitive.5. Takes purchase orders, negotiate sales contracts, and collects cash payments.6. Maintain sales records and meeting sales targets, as well as presents managers with regular updates.7. Liaises with other departments to ensure efficient customer service, as well as resolves complaints.8. Ensures that promotional and demonstration materials are kept in mint condition.9. Keeps the sales vehicle's interior and exterior clean.10. Performs basic sales vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking tire pressure, and gas and oil levels.11. Assists with loading truck for deliveries.12. Maintains a safety record with no accidents or injuries.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork includes movement in and around vehicles, exposure to an outdoor environment, including inclement weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, etc.). May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, move around the facility from one location to another, talk, hear, use fingers to type, handle or feel and reach objects and lift and/or move objects 10 pounds or less. The employee may occasionally need to kneel, crawl, stoop, bend and lift and/or move items 40 pounds or more.
