Job summary

VODEC in Omaha, NE is hiring a Route Driver to transport individuals with disabilities using wheelchair accessible vans and minibuses. Daily tasks include picking up and dropping off consumers from homes and the VODEC Center, and assisting with boarding and exiting the vehicle.

No experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. This part-time role offers a 10-hour week, PM shifts 2:30 pm–4:30 pm, a $1,000 bonus after six months, and comprehensive paid time off and training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Satisfactory driving record (no more than three moving violations in the most recent 36-month period).
• Valid driver’s license appropriate for vehicle type being required to operate.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicle to transport consumers over specified routes.
• Follow the local (and/or rural route) of transportation as assigned by your supervisor.
• Complete transportation schedules within appropriate time frames.
• Perform simple vehicle emergency functions (change tires, seek help and assistance).
• Report delays or accidents according to the organization’s policies.
• Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
• Assist passengers on and off the vehicle.
• Inspect vehicle and maintains adequate fluid levels.
