Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is hiring for a sanitation driver who will operate department trucks to collect trash and recycling on designated routes, perform inspections, and maintain safety while handling equipment. The position includes a 10-hour workday with outdoor duties in various weather conditions and regular radio communication to coordinate pickups and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Class B CDL within 90 days.
• Good written and spoken communication skills.
• Must learn GPS/time clock technology quickly.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and operate heavy vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre and post trip inspections daily.
• Operate trucks to collect trash and recycling on assigned routes.
• Sort and separate recyclable materials.
• Keep vehicles clean and perform minor field repairs.
• Work a 10 hour day on average.
• Communicate via radio as needed; maintain safety procedures.
• Ensure trucks are fueled daily and fuel use recorded.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
