Pay range: $143,000/yr ($68.75/hr)
Shift: 1st Shift
Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end requirements development, design, analysis, test, qualification, and lifecycle management.
  • Perform hand calculations and straightforward FEA / CFD tasks.
  • Take sole ownership of hardware development from clean-sheet through high-rate production across multiple components of the Parallax PE-10.
  • Collaborate with other responsible engineers to define interface requirements and manage coupled interactions.
  • Collaborate with analysts to derive loads, environments, and response characteristics of hardware across its operating envelope.
  • Develop and execute test and qualification plans for hardware.
  • Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
  • Collaborate with production to develop and execute prototype, low-rate, and full-rate production while balancing performance, cost, and complexity.
  • Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary.
Scope & Ownership

Owns the aerodynamic design of axial-compressor and turbine airfoils across the engine: transonic, mid- and final-stage compressor blades & vanes; compressor-turbine (CT) and power-turbine (PT) blades & vanes; and PT / mid-turbine-frame flowpath. Two scopes – transonic compressor blades and power-turbine blades – are Staff-RE leads. Crossover is encouraged: compressorturbine aero, aeroaeromechanics, aerosecondary-air.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Master's or PhD preferred (a turbomachinery PhD can substitute for some experience).
Experience
  • 4-8 years of turbomachinery aerodynamic design or a turbomachinery PhD plus ~2 years.
  • 3+ years of blade/vane aerodynamic design from 1D meanline through 3D CFD.
  • Rig and/or engine test experience (instrumentation, data reduction, correlation).
  • Aeromechanics / aeroelasticity exposure desirable.
Skill Requirements
  • Axial compressor and/or turbine aerodynamic design (1D / 2D / 3D).
  • CFD and numerical methods; loss, secondary-flow and tip-clearance modeling.
  • Blade/vane parameterization and design optimization.
  • Python and/or MATLAB; 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX/ProE, etc.).
