Job summary

Accelera in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced Rotor Dynamics Engineer to assess stability, vibrational behavior, and speed-dependent performance of rotating machinery used in jet engines.

You will forecast critical speeds, develop Campbell diagrams, and mentor engineers while leading design reviews to ensure aerospace quality and MIL-STD/AS9100 compliance.

This onsite role requires a decade of hands-on leadership in mechanical design projects within aerospace settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Deep expertise in Rotor Dynamics within aerospace, especially in complex mechanical systems design.
• Proficiency with ANSYS Workbench or ANSYS APDL and 1D Beam-based FEA methodologies.

Responsibilities

This role centers on the specialized mechanical engineering discipline of Rotor Dynamics, which involves evaluating the stability, vibrational characteristics, and speed-dependent performance of rotating machinery like turbines, compressors, and fans found in jet engines.

• Are you a professional with a minimum of a decade of experience performing analyses to forecast critical speeds, generate Campbell diagrams or whirl speed maps, and calculate forces, displacements, and moments resulting from imbalances?

Required Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline or Mechanical Engineering.
• Possess deep expertise in Rotor Dynamics within the aerospace sector, specifically regarding the design of intricate mechanical systems and components.
• Demonstrate mastery of FEA tools, specifically ANSYS Workbench or ANSYS APDL.
• Show proficiency in utilizing 1D Beam-based FEA methodologies.
• Apply expert knowledge to perform structural analyses of shafting and rotor dynamics.
• Guide engineering teams through mentorship, risk evaluations, and the facilitation of design reviews to ensure project success.
