Job summary

MSI, part of The Baldwin Group, invites motivated risk management students to join its 10-week summer 2027 commercial underwriting internship. You’ll be aligned to umbrella, general liability or property programs and gain hands-on experience in underwriting through mentorship, shadowing, and projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate across organizational levels.
• Demonstrated leadership potential through academics, internships, or volunteer work.
• Authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with SQL, Tableau, Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pull requested loss runs for accounts.
• Assist with the submission intake process.
• Complete non-monetary endorsements such as mailing address changes.
• Enter risk information into the underwriting system for quoting.
• Shadow team members across departments to learn the business and workflow.
