Job summary

The Security Officer position at the Nikiski refinery and surrounding areas prioritizes health, safety and security on site. The role involves monitoring facilities, de-escalating conflicts, and reporting incidents to maintain secure operations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years security experience, a valid driver’s license and a TWIC card. Alaska Guard License must be obtained, with English proficiency required for daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.
• A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have or receive a valid TWIC card prior to employment.
• Must be able to obtain Alaska Guard License by paying $98.25 prior to starting work.
• Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team.
• Must be able to make decisions with little supervision.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hours per shift.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Personally monitors assigned areas or grounds by roving or using various methods.
• Ensures safety and compliance for self and others.
• Verbally de-escalates situations to ensure safety.
• Examines interior and exterior areas to confirm security.
• Reports and records data per policies and procedures.
• Warns violators of infractions and may apprehend or expel.
• Notifies on-site individuals of visitors.
