Job summary

Synthomer plc is seeking a Shift Mechanic at our Jefferson Hills facility, near Pittsburgh, PA. You will maintain and repair mechanical equipment to support continuous chemical plant operations, with emphasis on reliability and safe production.

You will work rotating shifts, diagnose issues with pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors, and coordinate with operators and supervisors to minimize downtime. Industrial maintenance experience in chemical or heavy industry is required.

Qualifications

Industrial mechanic or millwright experience, preferably in chemical, refinery, or heavy industrial environments.
Strong understanding of rotating equipment, mechanical drives, and hydraulics/pneumatics.
Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and mechanical schematics.
Proficiency in alignment, rigging, and mechanical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, and other mechanical systems.
Diagnose mechanical failures using root-cause analysis techniques.
Repair or replace bearings, seals, couplings, shafts, and alignment-critical components.
Inspect and maintain rotating and stationary equipment per procedures.
Record maintenance activities in CMMS and communicate findings to shifts.
