Job summary

Synthomer in Jefferson Hills, PA, is seeking a Shift Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment that supports continuous chemical plant operations. You will join a rotating shifts maintenance team, respond to issues, and help ensure safe, reliable production.

The role requires experience with pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and rotating equipment; you will use CMMS and SAP for records, read blueprints and P&IDs, and uphold OSHA and safety standards while supporting

Qualifications

• Industrial mechanic or millwright with chemical/industrial environment experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
• Proficient in alignment, rigging, and mechanical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical failures using root-cause analysis and implement repairs.
• Support start-ups/shutdowns and assist operators to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety procedures (LOTO, hot-work, confined spaces) and OSHA standards.
• Document maintenance activities in CMMS and communicate findings to shift teams.
