Job summary

dsm-firmenich in Princeton, NJ is seeking a Rotating Equipment & Piping Maintenance Specialist for 1st shift. You will perform daily mechanical and select electrical repairs on plant systems, troubleshoot pumps, valves, and mixers, and rebuild pumps.

You’ll mentor vendors and coordinate contractors for safe, right‑first‑time work. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years in chemical/food/beverage maintenance, ability to read engineering docs, and proficiency with MS Word

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; two years of technical school training or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 3–5 years in maintenance within chemical, food, or beverage manufacturing; mechanical, machining, electrical, pipefitting, or welding skills are notable advantages.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents, procedures, regulations, and data; communicate effectively with managers, clients, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance across plant systems: piping, valves, gauges, plant air, and product lines.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs on plant and building systems (solenoid valves, limit switches, actuated valves).
  • Troubleshoot and sustain rotating assets—pumps, mixers, pneumatic/electric machinery to maintain uptime.
  • Complete rebuilds of diaphragm, rotary, gear, and centrifugal pumps; service valves and mixers.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teammates, outside contractors, and uphold safe, efficient execution.

What you’ll work on
  • Daily maintenance across chemical plant systems: piping, valves, gauges, plant air, and product lines.
  • Mechanical and, where applicable, electrical repairs on plant and building systems (solenoid valves, limit switches, actuated valves).
  • Troubleshooting and sustaining rotating assets—pumps, mixers, and pneumatic/electric machinery to maintain uptime.
  • Complete rebuilds of diaphragm, rotary, gear, and centrifugal pumps; service manual valves, pneumatic mixers, and vessels.
  • Partner with maintenance teammates, coordinate outside contractors, and uphold safe, efficient execution.
  • Install and commission capital equipment; welding, fabrication, and industrial piping experience are strong pluses.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; two years of technical school training or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 3–5 years in maintenance within chemical, food, or beverage manufacturing; mechanical, machining, electrical, pipefitting, or welding skills are notable advantages.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents, technical procedures, regulations, and data; communicate effectively with managers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Analytical problem solver—collect data, evaluate results, draw conclusions, and prepare recommendations or project reports; proficiency with MS Word and Excel is beneficial.
  • Capable of standing 75–85% of the shift; climbing ladders and stairs 2–3 stories; and consistently using PPE.
  • Capable of performing all essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay and perks

Salary $32.00 - $36.00, based on job‑related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and primary work location.
