dsm-firmenich in Port Newark, NJ is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead site engineering, asset health and reliability, and capital project execution. You will drive maintenance strategies across utilities, process systems and safety programs while partnering with operations to improve uptime and safety.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering with 10+ years in chemical or food manufacturing, knowledge of PSM, reliability methods and CAPEX budgeting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; chemical/mechanical preferred.
  • 10+ years in chemical/food plant with large rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of plant utility systems and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance and CAPEX budgeting controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site engineering with management of capital assets, process safety, utility systems, automation and strategic reliability-based maintenance.
  • Prepare and implement asset capital plans for replacement, cost reduction, expansion, and upgrades.
  • Identify, justify and implement capital projects on time and within budget, technically sound and compliant with safety/regulatory requirements.
  • Promote Design for Reliability across safety, maintainability, operability and quality throughout the site.
  • Maintain critical utilities (steam, compressed air, cooling, effluent) and ensure infrastructure reliability for operations.
  • Develop asset reliability strategies for rotating equipment using RCM, FMEA and PM/PdM requirements.

Job description

Engineering Manager

Location: Port Newark, NJ, US

The Engineering Manage is responsible for development and implementation of site asset maintenance strategy, asset health and reliability, capital budget preparation and execution, process modifications and upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, automation network maintenance and reliability, and site utility operations.

Your key responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of site Engineering with specific management of Capital Assets, Process Safety, Utility Systems, Automation and Strategic Reliability Based Maintenance
  • Prepare and implement asset capital plan for replacement, cost reduction, expansion, process/ safety upgrades for the site
  • Identify, justify and implement capital projects in the Operations and SHE area and ensure they are completed on time, in budget, technically accurate, and in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all projects in Operating and HSE areas are implemented using "Design for Reliability" philosophy especially as it relates to safety, maintainability, operability and quality, develop and nurture this philosophy throughout the site.
  • Maintain all critical utilities at 100% on line for Operations including steam, compressed air, chill water, cooling tower water and effluent systems, ensure infrastructure is adequate and reliable for operational requirements.
  • Ensure Asset Reliability of all rotating equipment for Process and Utilities in the manufacturing areas. Develop maintenance strategy for critical assets including RCM analysis, FMEA analysis and PM/PdM requirements.

You bring
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably chemical or mechanical, certifications in Reliability (CMRP) preferred
  • Greater than ten (10) years of experience in a chemical and/or Food plant environment with large rotating equipment with specific experience in unit operations including reaction, distillation, extrusion, separation, and drying in a GMP environment.
  • Knowledge of plant utility systems including power, steam, compressed air, cooling, effluent and environmental. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of Predictive Maintenance Tools to provide current and real time asset health indication, experienced with application of these tools in a business critical environment
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance processes and the application of these techniques to develop a Strategic Maintenance plan for critical assets
  • Ability to provide technical assistance for equipment operating problems with strong exposure to plant maintenance and plant operations. Ability to provide direction for effective personnel utilization in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols and their application in a chemical manufacturing environment specifically as they relate to mechanical integrity Experienced in Project Engineering management processes and CAPEX budget controls.

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary range: $170,000-$185,000
