Job summary

IDEAL ELECTRIC POWER CO. in Mansfield, OH seeks a Mechanical Designer to create and refine drawings for rotating electrical equipment.

You will use SOLIDWORKS to model parts and assemblies, collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams, and ensure designs meet manufacturability and quality standards. This role requires a solid foundation in GD&T, PLM/PDM systems, and documentation control, plus US citizenship due to export controls.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of experience performing similar duties.
• Associate degree or equivalent plus related training or experience.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM systems; other CAD platforms may be considered.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.
• Experience with product lifecycle management and revision control processes.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify comprehensive 3D models and prepare assembly and detail drawings from sketches or notes.
• Evaluate materials, dimensions and specifications for components and assemblies.
• Research existing drawings to optimize design efficiency.
• Make drawing revisions based on engineering feedback and production requirements.
• Identify parts and part numbers to maintain documentation consistency.
• Develop designs from written or oral instructions ensuring they meet resource documents.
• Apply GD&T to ensure designs meet quality standards.
• Use SOLIDWORKS CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM for document and revision control.
• Manage multiple design projects with strict timelines.
