Job summary

IDEAL ELECTRIC, based in Mansfield, Ohio, seeks a Mechanical Drafter to create and refine 3D models and detailed drawings for rotating electrical equipment. You’ll collaborate with engineering to deliver manufacturable solutions for critical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

Reporting to the Sr. Design Manager, the role requires strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and US citizenship due to export control, with daily work at our Mansfield facility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or related experience.
• US Citizenship required for this position.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.
• Experience with revision control processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, engineering specifications, and technical documents.
• Microsoft 365 literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent spatial visualization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify comprehensive 3D models and prepare accurate assembly and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes.
• Research similar drawings to optimize design efficiency.
• Make drawing revisions based on engineering feedback and production requirements.
• Research and identify parts and part numbers to maintain documentation consistency.
• Create finished designs from written or oral instructions, ensuring they meet resource requirements.
• Apply GD&T to ensure designs meet quality standards.
• Use SOLIDWORKS CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM for document and revision control.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting timelines.
