Job summary

MethanexGeismar seeks a Mechanical Engineer focused on rotating equipment reliability at our Texas facility. The role requires expertise with large pumps, steam turbines, and compressors, plus vibration analysis and predictive maintenance to guide ongoing reliability improvements.

The engineer will support maintenance, engineering, operations, inspection, and project teams, lead failure analysis, and drive risk-based maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend asset life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in chemical or petrochemical environments.
• Experience as plant owner's employee in a continuous process industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for rotating equipment selection, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting for long-term reliability.
• Lead pre-commissioning/commissioning activities and support major capital projects.
• Perform performance analysis of rotating equipment to identify deviations and resolutions.
• Develop and apply reliability strategies including risk-based maintenance and spare parts reviews.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical problems and develop solutions.
• Develop maintenance scopes for outages and major maintenance events.
• Lead cross-functional problem solving to improve equipment reliability.
