Kap Project Services seeks an experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer to support safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of industrial assets in Galveston, TX. You will lead reliability initiatives across fixed and rotating equipment, drive improvements, and strengthen Mechanical Integrity programs.
Responsibilities include RCFA, vibration analysis, PM/CBM optimization, and support for outages and MOC processes.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of industrial equipment and assets in Galveston, TX. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead across fixed and rotating equipment, driving continuous improvement, optimizing maintenance, and strengthening Mechanical Integrity programs.
Reliability & Asset Optimization: Lead reliability strategy, conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), eliminate bad actors, and utilize condition monitoring (vibration, oil analysis, thermography) to optimize preventative/predictive maintenance.
Mechanical Integrity & Compliance: Support compliance and inspection programs for pressure vessels, piping, and tanks per OSHA PSM, API (510/570/653), and ASME standards.
Equipment Oversight: Provide engineering and troubleshooting support for rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, blowers) and fixed equipment (exchangers, heaters, piping, vessels).
Project & Turnaround Support: Act as technical engineer for small capital/reliability projects; support MOC process, outage/turnaround planning, and startup activities.
Vendor & Contractor Management: Provide technical oversight during critical repairs and review vendor proposals for repair/equipment solutions.
Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.
Experience: 5+ years of mechanical reliability experience in refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in fixed/rotating equipment troubleshooting, Mechanical Integrity programs, and RCFA techniques.
Systems & Standards: Working knowledge of API/ASME standards and CMMS software experience.
Environment: Ability to maintain a strong field presence, climb ladders, navigate industrial plant environments, and support occasional turnaround or emergency response needs.
Preferred Certifications: PE License, CRE, API 510/570/653, or experience with Fiix CMMS.
