Messer Americas is seeking a Mechanical Engineering professional focused on rotating machinery to support area plants with technical engineering advice and SME recommendations for compressors, pumps, gearboxes and their auxiliaries. The role emphasizes reliability and safe operation across facilities.

Key responsibilities include maintenance strategy support, major turnarounds, field execution, and condition monitoring while overseeing contractors to ensure quality and timely completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 10+ years combined experience with ≥5 years in rotating machinery in operations/engineering.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% (80 nights/year).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance guidance for rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, and auxiliaries).
• Support Area Maintenance Strategy with machinery scope for major maintenance (> $250K–$2M) and ensure updates to machinery plans.
• Assist area with day-to-day mechanical issues and project support.
• Develop detailed machinery work scopes, budgets, contractor management, and execution plans for turnarounds.
• Provide in-field support for major maintenance with quality plans and timely lessons learned.
• Help resolve machinery issues to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Monitor history/condition of rotating equipment to prioritize major maintenance and justify budgets.
• Review condition monitoring data and propose repair plans (oil analyses, vibration, thermography).
• Assess contractor/service provider competencies to ensure proper scope and quality.
