Job summary

Geiger Pump & Equipment Company in Maryland is seeking a rotating equipment application engineer to serve as a technical resource, troubleshoot failures, and recommend dependable solutions for customers in a fast‑paced environment.

You’ll work hands‑on with equipment in our Baltimore shop and travel to Aston, PA as needed, supporting repairs, startup, field inspections, and a growing knowledge of pump selection and sizing alongside our sales team.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience with rotating equipment or related technical support roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (or closely related field); an associate degree with hands‑on experience also considered.
• Strong communicator who can discuss technical details with engineers and technicians.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, pump curves, and technical documentation.
• Mechanical aptitude with curiosity about why equipment behaves as it does; high attention to detail.
• Self‑directed, organized, and able to switch between office analysis, shop investigation, and customer-site problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Become our technical expert for customer repair and aftermarket needs.
• Provide troubleshooting, performance evaluations, and upgrade recommendations at customer sites and in Baltimore shop.
• Travel to Aston, PA shop as needed and support startup, commissioning, and field inspections.
• Learn the fundamentals of pump selection, sizing, and application to expand knowledge of equipment solutions.
• Assist in reviewing specifications, drawings, and operating conditions as part of the broader technical team.
• Support Outside Sales Engineers and inside sales teams with proposals, quotations, and technical submittals as needed.
