Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts is seeking a knowledgeable Rooms Controller for the St. Anthony Hotel in downtown San Antonio.

You will manage daily room inventory to maximize occupancy, revenue, and guest satisfaction, serving as the central link between Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, and Revenue Management. Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage daily room inventory including arrivals, departures, and VIPs.
• Assign rooms based on guest preferences, loyalty status, and priorities.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping for accurate status and readiness.
• Manage room blocks, group reservations, and special requests with Sales.
• Ensure inventory accuracy across PMS, CRS, and channel partners.
• Support Front Desk during peak arrivals and departures.
• Review daily occupancy and room status reports.
• Communicate overbooking risks and sell-out strategies with leadership.
• Assist with guest relocations and service recovery.
• Maintain brand standards and data accuracy.
• Prepare and distribute daily room assignment reports.
• Track out-of-order/out-of-service rooms.
• Support revenue strategies by aligning with forecast demand.
• Maintain guest confidentiality.
• Participate in stand-ups and pre-arrival planning.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Rooms Controller. The Rooms Controller is responsible for the strategic management and daily control of hotel room inventory to maximize occupancy, revenue, and guest satisfaction. This role serves as the central point of coordination between Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, and Revenue Management to ensure optimal room allocation, accurate room status, and seamless guest arrivals.

Essential Job Functions

• Monitor and manage daily room inventory, including arrivals, departures, stayovers, early arrivals, late departures, and VIP reservations
• Assign rooms strategically based on guest preferences, loyalty status, room type, and operational priorities
• Coordinate closely with Housekeeping to ensure accurate room status, prioritization of cleans, and readiness for arrivals
• Manage room blocks, group reservations, and special rooming requests in collaboration with Sales and Reservations
• Ensure room inventory accuracy across all systems (PMS, CRS, and channel partners)
• Support Front Desk operations during peak arrival and departure periods to maintain service standards
• Review daily reports including occupancy, availability, out-of-order rooms, and room discrepancies
• Communicate proactively with leadership regarding overbooking risks, sell-out strategies, and operational constraints
• Assist in resolving guest room issues, relocations, and service recovery needs as required
• Maintain compliance with brand standards, operational SOPs, and data accuracy expectations
• Prepare and distribute daily room assignment and operational reports
• Track and manage out-of-order and out-of-service rooms
• Support revenue strategies by aligning room assignments with forecasted demand
• Maintain confidentiality of guest information and internal operational data
• Participate in daily stand‑ups, operations meetings, and pre‑arrival planning sessions

Requirements

• Minimum of 1–2 years of Front Office or Rooms Division experience in a hotel environment
• Prior experience with a Property Management System (PMS) required (Opera preferred)
• Understanding of hotel room categories, inventory management, and operational flow
• Luxury or full-service hotel experience preferred
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and cross‑departmental collaboration skills
• Strong guest service mindset with problem‑solving capability
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
