Job summary

Method Co. is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead Kamper’s Rooftop Lounge atop the Book Tower in downtown Detroit. You will oversee daily operations, drive service excellence, and develop both management and hourly teams to deliver an elevated hospitality experience.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in high-volume restaurant or lounge leadership, strong financial acumen, and a proven ability to grow guest satisfaction while controlling costs and maintaining brand standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive restaurant, bar, or hospitality management experience.
• Previous experience as a General Manager or senior restaurant leader in a high‑volume operation preferred.
• Experience in upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, rooftop, nightlife‑driven concept preferred.
• Strong financial acumen with budgets, labor, COGS, inventory, and P&L performance.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high‑performing teams.
• Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands‑on leadership during service and set the standard for hospitality, professionalism, and accountability.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop managers and hourly team members.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, high‑performing workplace culture.
• Establish clear expectations and provide feedback and performance management.
• Build schedules and staffing plans that balance business levels with labor costs.
• Lead pre‑shift meetings and ongoing service training for consistency across the team.
• Oversee daily front‑of‑house operations and ensure elevated service standards.
• Develop relationships with guests and address feedback or service recovery.
• Manage opening/closing, cash handling, and operating procedures.
