Method Co. is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead Kamper’s Rooftop Lounge atop Detroit’s Book Tower.

The GM will oversee day-to-day operations, drive exceptional guest experiences, and build a high-performing service culture with both management and hourly teams. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in upscale, high‑volume hospitality, strong financial acumen, and the ability to lead from the floor while collaborating with culinary and property leadership to deliver an elevated rooftop

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive restaurant, bar, lounge, or hospitality management experience.
• Experience as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior restaurant leader in a high-volume operation strongly preferred.
• Experience within an upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, rooftop, nightlife, or elevated concept preferred.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor, COGS, inventory, and P&L performance.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of beverage operations and bar profitability.
• Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands-on leadership during service and set the standard for hospitality, professionalism, and accountability.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop managers and hourly team members.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.
• Establish clear expectations and provide consistent feedback and performance management.
• Build schedules and staffing plans that appropriately support business levels while managing labor costs.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and ongoing service training to ensure consistency across the team.
• Oversee all daily front-of-house operations and ensure smooth execution of service.
• Develop strong relationships with guests and address feedback or service recovery.
• Ensure opening, closing, cash-handling, and operational procedures are consistently followed.
