Job Title: Sales Representative – Commercial Roofing & Building Envelope

Salary: Competitive Base Salary + Commission | $150,000K
Position Overview
Tiello is partnering with an industry-leading manufacturer in the commercial roofing and building envelope sector to hire an experienced Architectural Sales Representative. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in launching and expanding the company's Roofing & Waterproofing Division throughout the Northeast U.S. market.
This position is focused on developing strong relationships within the Architectural, Engineering, and Design (A&D) community to generate project specifications and create long-term sales opportunities. Working closely with Territory Sales Managers, the Architectural Sales Representative will influence project specifications, educate industry professionals, and drive demand for innovative roofing and insulation systems.
The ideal candidate has experience selling commercial roofing, insulation, waterproofing, or other building envelope products and thrives in a relationship-driven, specification-focused sales environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineering firms, roofing consultants, specifiers, and other design professionals throughout the assigned territory.
- Generate early-stage demand by securing project specifications for commercial roofing and insulation systems.
- Conduct AIA-accredited presentations, product demonstrations, educational seminars, and technical training sessions for architects, consultants, and industry professionals.
- Influence project specifications by promoting commercial roofing, insulation, and building envelope solutions.
- Identify, track, and manage specification opportunities from project conception through bidding and final construction.
- Collaborate closely with Territory Sales Managers to transition secured specifications into awarded projects and closed sales.
- Utilize CRM software to manage project pipelines, client activities, and specification opportunities.
- Provide technical product guidance and coordinate with internal technical services teams to support project requirements.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, networking events, and professional association meetings.
- Travel throughout the assigned territory to support customer relationships and business development efforts.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in architectural sales, specification sales, or commercial construction materials.
- Previous experience within commercial roofing, waterproofing, insulation, building envelope, exterior cladding, or related construction products is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the commercial construction process, including specifications, project development, and bidding procedures.
- Experience developing relationships with architects, consultants, specifiers, and design professionals.
- Proven ability to influence project specifications and generate long-term sales opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management abilities.
- Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional sales teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience selling TPO roofing systems, Polyiso insulation, waterproofing systems, or other commercial building envelope products.
- Experience delivering AIA presentations and technical educational seminars.
- Existing relationships within the architectural and design community across the Northeast U.S. market.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong business acumen with experience managing a specification pipeline from concept to completion.
