Job summary
Westlake Chemical is seeking a Technical Services Manager to act as the technical expert for roofing products and installation practices across North America. The role includes developing training programs, supporting customers and sales teams, and addressing product and installation inquiries.
The ideal candidate will have advanced roofing installation knowledge, strong communication skills, and 6–8 years in construction or building materials.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of roofing installation processes.
- Knowledge of standard building practices.
- Specific knowledge of building and wind codes in assigned territory.
- Written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to interact and communicate with persons of various backgrounds and knowledge levels to promote products and proper installation practices.
- Ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical documents such as installation instructions, architectural blueprints, construction plans, product specifications and building codes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, yet lead and work as part of a team.
- 6-8 years of experience with construction, building materials, building science or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute installation instructions, guides, videos and other tools for field use.
- Develop product training methodology for classroom and field installation training.
- Train installation crews on proper installation technique.
- Train customers and sales personnel on proper installation technique.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for product knowledge, building code and installation questions.
- Manage day-to-day issues and coordinate with sales to ensure solutions.
- Analyze and provide feedback concerning product development and pricing.
- Create strategies for providing product and installation support across North America.
- Provide feedback to Product Management, R&D, engineering and quality about product defects and enhancements.
- Collaborate with Customer Care to support warranty claims and customer complaints.
- Assist with displays for trade shows as needed.
- Travel up to 60% with 2-3 overnight stays per week.
