Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. is seeking a Roller Fabricator to assist in sheet metal fabrication and related assembly tasks. The role supports daily production schedules and requires operating multiple roller-related equipment, inventory handling, and adherence to quality processes.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, basic tool skills, and the ability to read blueprints, with fluency in English and willingness to learn forklift operations and additional roller fabrication tasks.

Qualifications

• Able to read blueprints.

• Capable of becoming proficient operating a forklift.
• Able to work overtime.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Work from manufacturing schedule.
• Operate the extruder to meet daily work schedule.
• Unload used rollers from trucks, crates.
• Move rollers/crates using fork-truck.
• Clean rollers with soda-blaster.
• Operate rubber stripping equipment.
• Operate roller sanding equipment.
• QC check on roller gears; replace out-of-spec gears.
• Prime and paint roller pipe assemblies.
• Assemble components into new roller pipe assemblies.
• Cross-train – learn to perform other roller operations: extruder, grinding, polishing, finishing.
• Assist with cycle counts; maintain inventory counts of used roller cores.
• Complete transactions in MFG software with minimal errors.
• Keep machines/work area clean.
• Position must be performed at the facility.

Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Roller Fabricator. This individual will be responsible for helping in all areas related to sheet metal fabricating.

Responsibilities

• Work from manufacturing schedule
• Operate the extruder to meet daily work schedule
• Unload used rollers from trucks, crates
• Move rollers/crates using fork-truck
• Clean rollers with soda-blaster
• Operate rubber stripping equipment
• Operate roller sanding equipment

• Complete transactions in mfg software with minimal errors (clock-in/out, job on/off, charge material from inventory, receipt material to inventory, scrap material move material from one location to another, etc.)
• Keep machines/work area clean
• It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Be able to identify and use basic hand tools
• Capable of reading blueprints
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Capable of becoming proficient operating a fork-truck
• Capable of learning to operating roller fab equipment – sanding equipment soda blaster, stripping machines
• Able to work overtime
• Light domestic travel as required, 1 to 2 weeks pre year.
• Must be able to meet the functional requirements of the job including the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend/lean over and lift 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience
• Experience in some trade – mechanic, fabrication work, carpentry, machine tools, etc.
• Advanced education/training – vocational training, college courses, etc.
• Experience in the seafood or shrimp industry
• Multiple technical skills – welding, mill/lathe operation, sheet metal, carpentry, auto mechanic, etc.
• Experience with computer software (MS Office, manufacturing software, etc.)
