Job description

We are looking for a Rolling Operator with experience using a section bending/rolling machine to roll basic metal shapes such as: flat bar, pipe, tubing, angles, channel and beams. This role requires a driven self starter who is motivated to perform quality work and contribute to the team atmosphere at Linders.

Position Title: Rolling Operator

Classification: Non-exempt (hourly)

Reports to: Production Manager

Job Type: Full Time 40 hours per week

Summary: Linders Specialty Company, Inc. is a custom metal fabricator specializing in roll bending and custom fabrication of steel, stainless steel and aluminum using our multiple roll bending processes and specialty equipment.

• Setup and operate rolling machine to produce parts per print and within tolerance
• Read and interpret blueprints including dimensions and tolerances
• Use measurement tools to inspect parts and verify quality standards are met
• Clean machine and work area as necessary during and at the end of each shift
• Use ERP system to clock-in, clock-out, record job times and quantities, etc.
• Verify material specifications and type before starting rolling operations
• Works with department lead to perform and schedule service and repair of rolling machine

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of experience operating a section bending/rolling machine
• Prior experience in a metal fabrication environment
• Working Knowledge of mathematics
• Mechanical aptitude
• Willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience operating a section bending/rolling machine
• Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, jibs and other lifting equipment
• 5+ years of experience in a metal fabrication environment
• Proficiency in MIG welding of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Understanding of welding processes and materials
• Experience with other fabrication machinery including brake press, shear, plate roller

This position works in a manufacturing and fabrication shop environment where exposure to industrial conditions is common. The work environment typically includes:

• Operation in a metal fabrication shop with exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment
• Regular exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
• Exposure to dust, metal shavings, lubricants, oils, and occasionally welding fumes or mist
• Varying indoor temperatures depending on season, weather, and shop ventilation
• Standing and working near large forming equipment with pinch points and rotating components
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, gloves, and hearing protection

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
• Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
• Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, position, and guide metal materials
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with heavier materials moved using mechanical assistance
• Repetitive motions associated with feeding, aligning, and adjusting metal through rolling equipment
• Ability to reach above shoulder height and work at floor level
• Visual acuity sufficient to read measurements, gauges, and production documentation
• Ability to work extended shifts, including overtime, as production demands require
