Job summary

Laitram Machinery, a division of Laitram, LLC, is seeking a Field Installation and Service Technician to service Gulf Coast accounts from a home-office base and report to the Customer Service Manager in New Orleans, LA. The role focuses on installations, training, and equipment optimization.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in mechanical/electrical tech, able to travel 30% domestically and internationally, and capable of leading subcontractors while ensuring high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years' of work experience as a mechanical or electrical technician.
• Ability to travel extensively (30%).
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair equipment and control systems.
• Read and understand manuals and drawings to self-teach new tech.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

Field Installation and Service Technician

Laitram Machinery, a division of Laitram, LLC, is looking for a technical, energetic and self-reliant Field Service Technician to service and manage its Gulf Coast accounts. This is a key role assuming primary responsibility for regional customer relations, field installations and training, and equipment optimization services. Our Technicians are the "Face of Laitram Machinery" to our customers. This position will work out of a personal home-office located in [insert desired area] reporting to the Customer Service Manager located in New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and perform mechanical and electrical assembly, installation and commissioning of equipment
• Lead mechanical and electrical subcontractors engaged by Laitram Machinery
• Train customers to operate, maintain and optimize equipment performance
• Plan and perform trials to optimize equipment performance and demonstrate value
• Provide warranty support by diagnosing failures, ordering parts and affecting repairs and replacements
• Provide insightful technical feedback to the Company's Engineering and R&D departments to improve equipment performance and value
• Assist our commercial team in selling of the Company's food processing equipment and services.
• It is essential that this position is performed at the facility

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5+ years' of work experience as a mechanical or electrical technician
• Ability to travel extensively (30%) both domestically and internationally and work weekends, holidays
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
• Ability to independently install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical equipment and control systems
• Ability to read and understand manufacturer's drawings and manuals to "self-teach" new technology
• Strong organizational and time management skills with high level of attention to detail
• Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
• Proficient with Excel and Word
• Positive, confident outlook with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving personality
• Able to perform all essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, kneel and squat on a repetitive basis.

Desired Qualifications

• 2 + years Electrical, Controls, PLC (Schneider) and Automation Systems experience.
• Technical degree/Associate or similar, in electrical, mechanical or automation engineering technology.
• Experience with food processing equipment
• Strong electro-mechanical skills (electrical panels, motors, drives, and networks), experience with industrial control systems
• Familiar with using CRM service platform such as Dynamics 365.
