Job summary

Nucor is seeking an Automation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and optimize our automated systems. You will provide technical expertise and promote safety, quality, cost, and reliability that support World Class Operations.

Candidates should have PLC programming, HMIs (Wonderware/FTView), PID loops, instrumentation scaling, and 5 years of automation experience. Safely meet physical requirements; internal applicants require supervisor/manager approval.

Qualifications

• Two-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications.
• 5 years automation and controls experience.
• Demonstratable experience with PLC programming, HMIs, Wonderware and/or FTView, scaling instrumentation, PID loops.

Responsibilities

The Automation Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing our automated systems. The Automation technician will provide technical expertise, promote Safety, Quality, Cost, & Reliability that support World Class Operations and demonstrate leadership through the maintenance strategy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime
• Two-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications
• Demonstratable experience with PLC Programing, HMI’s, Wonderware and/or FTVIEW, scaling instrumentation, PID loops
• 5 years automation and controls experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Four-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications.
• Control Logix’s Experience
• AB & ABB Drive Experience
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E-Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
