Job summary

Nucor, a North American steel and steel products leader, seeks an Automation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and optimize automated systems. You will promote safety, quality, cost, and reliability that support World Class Operations and demonstrate leadership through the maintenance strategy.

Candidates should have 5 years automation and controls experience, plus hands-on work with PLC programming, HMIs, Wonderware and FTVIEW. Weekend/overtime availability is required.

Qualifications

• Willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and overtime.
• Two-year college degree or equivalent education, training, and certifications.
• Experience with PLC programming, HMIs, Wonderware and/or FTVIEW, scaling instrumentation, PID loops.
• 5 years automation and controls experience.

Basic Job Functions:

The Automation Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing our automated systems. The Automation technician will provide technical expertise, promote Safety, Quality, Cost, & Reliability that support World Class Operations and demonstrate leadership through the maintenance strategy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime
• Two-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications
• Demonstratable experience with PLC Programing, HMI’s, Wonderware and/or FTVIEW, scaling instrumentation, PID loops
• 5 years automation and controls experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Four-year college degree or other education, training, and certifications.
• Control Logix’s Experience
• AB & ABB Drive Experience
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E-Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
