Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Canoga Park, CA is seeking a Clean Technician – Processor/Plater to join our space and defense-focused manufacturing site.

This union position on the 2nd shift handles cleaning, etching, passivation, and other surface processing of rocket engine parts per detailed specs. The role requires reading planning documents, operating cleaning and processing equipment, and safely handling heavy hardware up to 5,000 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with and around hazardous chemicals including acids.
• Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE used with hazardous chemicals.
• Experience handling large (500+lbs) complex hardware with tooling and other handling devices such as pallet jacks, cranes, lifting straps, etc.
• Experience reading, comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret information from planning documents, drawings, blueprints, sketches, engineering orders, work instructions, tool orders, specifications, and EPI’s to clean hardware to meet drawing specifications.
• Hardware is cleaned in tanks, high pressure steam cleaned, hand-wiped, parts washer, fine clean wet cells, and in precision clean rooms. Must be able to use ovens and other aids like borescopes to process hardware per specification.
• Be able to clean and package hardware to meet all fine clean specifications and requirements.
• Safely lift and process rocket engine hardware (up to 5,000 lbs) and plan proper grouping and positioning of hardware to assure cleaning meets engineering specifications.
• Attach, flush and purge tooling/fixtures to parts and assemblies for processing and drying operations. Understand tank chemistry and verify solutions and chemicals within the tanks are within specification.
• Be familiar with caustic and acidic solutions and how they interact with personnel and hardware. Understand complex geometry and how to clean all FOD from internal passages.
