Plus One, an Optum company, seeks a Rock Gym Coach/Route Setter in Beaverton, OR. You will foster a safe, engaging climbing environment and help members grow their skills by teaching core courses.

Responsibilities include belay and technique instruction, monitoring safety, and maintaining wall presentation. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required, with growth opportunities within our wellness offerings.

Qualifications

• 6+ months in a climbing role or 2+ years in an indoor climbing facility/outdoor climbing guide.
• Ability to teach belay, lead climbing and technical movement classes.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Proficient in teaching belay, lead climbing and technical movement classes.
• Experience setting and forerunning V4/5.10.
• Time management and multitasking skills.
• Knowledgeable about the climbing industry and customer networking.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

We are currently seeking a Rock Gym Coach/Route Setter to provide services and support to a retail company's global headquarters located in Beaverton, OR.

Responsibilities:

• Provide an engaging, safe, and community based environment for climbers to learn and grow
• Explain and demonstrate correct usage of climbing equipment and facility features
• Teach or co-teach core climbing courses for members
• Monitor participants and the area for safety
• Respond to member/guest suggestions, concerns, and complaints in a timely, professional, and consistent manner
• Maintain cleanliness and proper presentation of the rock wall climbing area
• Provide support to the broader fitness center as needed

Requirements:

• 6+ months working in a climbing role or 2+ years experience working in an indoor climbing facility and/or as an outdoor climbing guide
• Climbing instruction background with ability to teach belay, lead climbing and technical movement classes
• Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Proficient in teaching belay, lead climbing and technical movement classes
• Experience setting and forerunning V4/5.10
• Ability to multi-task, and execute time management and problem-solving skills.
• Must be knowledgeable about the industry with the customer skills to network, engage, and interact with all clients, guests, and participants.
• Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
• Preferred: A current nationally recognized Rock Climbing Certification such as PCIA or AMGA
