Responsibilities

• Make short and long-range plans for each subject area of instruction.
• Provide for individual differences in the learning needs of students.
• Provide a classroom climate that is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency.
• Monitor student performance and be adaptable to current curriculum needs.
• Give students prompt and meaningful feedback on their performance.
• Inform parents of student progress in terms of grade-level expectations.
• Interact positively with students, colleagues, parents and community members.
• Direct student teachers, educational assistants, student tutors and parent volunteers when such personnel are utilized.
• Handle student discipline and attendance problems and assist with the enforcement of all school rules.
• Work collaboratively with co-workers, as part of a professional learning community.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students.
• Perform job-related, non-teaching duties.
• Participate in staff development activities.
• Participate in school improvement and parent involvement activities.
• Perform other such duties as assigned by the building administrator.
