Job summary

1X is seeking a Test Fixture Design Engineer in San Carlos to design and deliver mechanical fixtures enabling rigorous validation of the NEO platform. You will own fixture development end-to-end, from initial concept through CAD, drawings, fabrication, and assembly, ensuring robust, manufacturable hardware that supports fast, safe, and repeatable testing.

You will work with manufacturing and external vendors to resolve DFM issues, contribute to test-cell integration, and iterate designs based on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years designing mechanical test fixtures, assembly fixtures, tooling, or similar hardware.
• Strong 3D CAD and 2D drawings for machining and fabrication.
• Experience turning designs into physical hardware with machine shops or vendors.
• Familiarity with mechanical testing: loads, fixtures, interfaces, safety.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver mechanical test fixtures for safe, accurate validation of NEO subsystems.
• Own fixture development end-to-end from concept to CAD, drawings, fabrication, and assembly.
• Deliver production-ready fixture packages: CAD, drawings, materials, tolerances, hardware, interfaces.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve DFM issues and meet test schedules.
• Iterate fixtures in response to test-cell feedback and real-world results.
