Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a senior safety leader to act as the technical authority for robot safety from concept to customer deployment. You will author the system safety architecture and safety case, providing leadership to engineers who handle hazard analysis, safety functions, and deployment safety, ensuring the safety case stands up to scrutiny.

You will leverage deep functional safety and robot safety expertise, guiding risk judgments and safety decisions across current and next-gen platforms

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, including leadership of a safety team.
• Certified functional safety expert or professional preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems safety engineers from hazard analysis to deployment.
• Set direction, mentor engineers, and align priorities with long-term goals.
• Author the system-level safety architecture (including AI) and safety case.
• Serve as technical authority for safety trade-offs, residual risk, and architectural decisions.
• Maintain the safety case with evidence from software, hardware, AI, user safety, and deployment.
• Define the safety lifecycle and criteria for design reviews, safety gates, and SOTIF residual risk acceptance.
